Make no mistake however. This is the last desperate gasp of the last male dominated generation. The widespread social revolution seen throughout much of the world will continue. The advancement of Women has become like gravity, something that can be fought against but the eventual outcome is inevitable. Women have acquired ever more education, wealth and power. The trend lines are clear no matter how much of a backlash there may be from certain sectors. Of course the coming few years are fraught with danger, dark forces are on the lose. History isn't a straight line from A to B. Vigilance, activism and determination will be required. Just know that the natural order will prevail.
Don't ever forget how some people doubted that America would ever vote for a Woman president yet Hillary Clinton got almost 3 million more votes than her male opponent. Only quirks of the political system and outside interference tilted the results away from the will of the people.
Don't despair, get engaged and get active.

ReplyDeleteClinton had a distinguished record of public service and by non-partisan accounts was one of the more honest politicians on the national level. The disinformation that was so widely disseminated is exemplified by the above comment. Unfortunately, the fake Comey revelations, Russian interference with Trump's connivance, and the desire for a "change" no matter in what direction defeated her. We are now saddled with one of the sleaziest, most dishonest, most reactionary public figures in the country as president. God has not blessed America; he has damned us. Trump's low character and open racism and sexism is a testimony to the depths to which male supremacy has sunk. We can only hope that most people will eventually realize that misogyny, fear of feminism, the typical male irrationality has led them down a self-destructive path.
ReplyDeleteThere is a great book by Katherine Burkekin, The End of This Day's Business, that prophesies a matriarchy but only after a world wide catastrophe of masculinist fascism. I hope that is not what it will take.

I'm very cynical about politics, so sorry for being a downer. I really don't think that having a Woman as President or having more Women in politics will do much good. Female politicians are equally scrubbly to their male counterparts.
ReplyDeleteIt's not like there's all these great Women politicians who everyone just ignores. Elizabeth Warren basically just says the same things as Bernie Sanders. Hilary Clinton basically says the same things as Chuck Schumer. Nikki Haley says the same things as John Kasich. Carly Fiorina says the same things as Ted Cruz.
No matter what political persuasion a person has, I can find you a male or female politician who will smile and nod with you as long as you give them money or your vote.
That said, Hilary was kind of lame. Of course she was better than Trump. But wouldn't we want the first Female President to be someone with a little more integrity and more capable of really doing a great job? I always hear how Hilary was the "THE MOST QUALIFIED PERSON IN HISTORY TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT!!!" But while she looked good on paper, I can't really think of that many huge successes she had.
I guess we'll have to wait for 2020, to see what happens.
The fact that millions of people are openly and enthusiastically calling for the end of patriarchy is a good sign in itself. The fact that a Woman candidate received more votes than Her male opponent is also a good thing. I agree that we are witnessing the last pathetic gasps of patriarchy as it comes to a grinding halt like the defective contraption that it's always been, but as you say, it's not going down easily.
ReplyDeleteWomen may not all agree on everything and in the patriarchy, they must play along with the men in order to rise through the ranks, so i don't think we'll see the full potential of Females in power until they reach a critical mass of at least 50%. Until then we have to realize that empowered Women are the only hope for the future. And of course ... The future is Female!
Dear Ethan, thanks for your words of encouragement. I have still been mourning the patriarchal debacle we are calling the 2016 election. But you're right, the majority also spoke and it (I) voted for the #SuperiorFemale. Small steps. The next one I'm hoping will be catastrophic for the outdated patriarchy.
